Maritimo X60:

Express Yacht w/Stern Options

maritimo-x60-060820.png

We could see the beach club being a popular option on the Maritimo X60.

On the stern of the Maritimo X60, the Australian manufacturer offers three different configurations of the space, a tender garage, aft cabin or the beach club, which was on our test boat. Inside, there are two director’s chairs where a couple can relax and enjoy a great view of the ocean from close to water level, which provides a different, interesting vantage point. More...

Fountaine Pajot MY 40:

Cruising Cat Designed for Power

fountaine-pajot-my40-060820.png

Most people looking at this photo would be shocked to learn it’s the salon on a

45’11” (13.93 m) boat.

The manufacturer says the boat is designed to “entertain 20, sleep eight and cruise two or four in stable comfort.” More...

Kayak Caveat

kayak-caveat-060820.png

One of the first things a kayaker should learn to do is the correct way to react when she finds herself in the water.

Over the last 10-15 years, kayaks have become ubiquitous on waterways all over the world. They are light and cheap, provide good exercise and adventure – but they can also be terribly dangerous. In 2018, the last year for which the USCG has published records, 84 kayakers died in the U.S., the penultimate boat type involved in deaths. Many boat owners carry kayaks aboard for recreation when at anchor, so they must be aware of the risks. But almost every powerboater encounters kayakers along the waterways. For them, all powerboat operators should be cognizant of their wake, which can easily overturn a kayak, particularly one with an inexperienced operator. More...
