Ranger Tugs R-25:
Bottom Enhanced to Improve Handling
In the running surface of the Ranger Tugs R-25, the company employs Laminar Flow Interrupters between boat’s strakes. They create a rough surface, similar to the dimples on a golf ball and Ranger says this design wrinkle is intended to improve cornering in turns. Couple this with a reverse chine and variable deadrise and the result is a boat that operates well in a wide spectrum of conditions. And that’s just the outside. Wait until you see the inside. Imtra Side-Power Stabilizers:
Curved for Efficiency
Side-Power’s Vector Fin stabilizers are curved upward between 36 and 53 degrees compared to traditional straight stabilizer fins. Typically, fins work best on a boat with longer roll periods and the larger the boat, the longer she takes to roll. The curve angle of the Vector Fins, plus a boat’s deadrise, combine to direct the stabilizing force more vertically. IMTRA says this is more effective at preventing roll. But is it really? More...

Boating Tips
Making a Landfall Without Running Aground
With modern electronics like GPS and chartplotters showing the way, making a landfall should be straightforward, but there are still more traditional techniques that can be applied to making the transition from open water to shallow channels and the land.
