De Antonio D42 (2025-)

3 x 300-hp Mercury Verado V8

Brief Summary

Although she can fulfill that obligation many times over, the De Antonio D42 Open is definitely more than an exciting day boat. The company has, with all its models, now numbering nine, used all available space both inside and out, to make the line up quite versatile. Combining luxury with performance, the latter courtesy of engine packages including triple Mercury outboards available in 300-, 350-, and 400-hp models, the De Antonio D42 Open, with a pair of staterooms and storage spaces for extended time away, presents a boat capable of supplying all that and a lot more.

Vessel Inspection

As with her eight other sisterships in the model lineup, one step aboard the De Antonio D42 Open and it is quite evident as to where all the layout planning was centered around. The uncluttered, walk-around deck results in a space more than suitable for gathering and entertaining. In addition, with a pair of staterooms, one forward and the other amidships, she will provide excellent travel opportunities.

De Antonio D42 The first deck seating option layout

The first deck seating option offers a C-shape module with a pair of dining tables.

De Antonio D42 The second seating option layout

The second seating option offers opposing bench seats also with a pair of dining tables.

De Antonio D42 The living accommodations layout

The living accommodations offers a forepeak stateroom and a convertible aft space with fill-in cushions.

Bow

Everything about the De Antonio D42 says useful space and that is quite evident here on the bow.

De Antonio D42 sunpad

A wide sunpad/seating area, easily with enough room for three is found here. Note the wide 18”/45.72cm walkways and deep gunnels, measuring 24”/60.96cm, making it safe and easy to get to and from this area. A large bench seat forward houses a storage space.

De Antonio D42 anchor locker

Fully forward in the anchor locker with plenty of room for the chair rode and Lewmar windlass. There is also space for additional storage.

De Antonio D42 stainless anchor roller

With the cover closed and latched, you can easily see the stainless roller designed to keep the anchor far enough out to prevent it from hitting the plumb bow when retrieved. There are also a pair of stainless, flush-mounted cleats located here as well.

Helm & Cockpit

Surely the center piece of boats of her ilk, the helm and cockpit areas are of special focus aboard the De Antonio D42 Open and designed to make these areas conducive to gathering and entertaining.

De Antonio D42 helm

With four bolstered seats across, the helm can accommodate a trio of guests to accompany the driver. The helm console can easily house a pair of 12” Simrad touchscreens and has positioned all controls, switches, and other equipment at just the right position for ease of safe operation. That forward screen can be ordered as a full windshield. Note the robust hard top supports, each side with a grab. The driver’s seat is on a slider allowing it to move fore and aft.

De Antonio D42 main deck galley

Just aft of the helm seats is the main deck galley complete with refrigerator drawer, stove top, sink, and lots of storage cabinets.

De Antonio D42 C-shaped dining

With its proximity to the galley, this C-shape dining area has plenty of seating and lots of space to make dining here a special experience. Note the wide walkways to either side.

De Antonio D42 bi-fold tables

The bi-fold tables make getting around safe and easy. Additional storage is found under the seats.

De Antonio D42 With the optional, electrically actuated sunshade

With the optional, electrically actuated sunshade cover much of the dining area.

Aft

With its characteristic use of the aft section, the De Antonio D42 offers a large sunpad measuring 99” x 99”/251.46cm x 251.46cm, with plenty of room for several guests to utilize. But, in true De Antonio fashion, there’s more.

De Antonio D42 aft sunpad

Providing enough room for guests to lounge on, the aft sunpad has a row of cup holders running down the centerline.

De Antonio D42 large wet-storage compartment

The headrest easily opens revealing a large wet-storage compartment. Those poles are for the bow sunshade.

De Antonio D42 hidden engine compartment

With the touch of a button, the entire sunpad reveals another De Antonio feature, the hidden engine compartment with plenty of room to check/add oil and easily complete freshwater flushing. The stainless swim ladder is positioned in the middle of the aft platform and with its location far enough away from the motors, provides an added safety factor while engaging in water sports.

De Antonio D42 stainless ladder

The stainless ladder, with its Flexteek® steps, has hand holds on top to make getting in and out of the water safe and easy. It stows away under the platform.

De Antonio D42 mechanical space

Accessed from above, and while a bit tight in getting down into, having to step on top of the fuel tank first, the mechanical space does provide adequate room to inspect and service such critical maintenance areas as generator, pumps, battery management system, and thru-hulls, with everything labeled for easy identification.

Living Accommodations

Traveling aboard the De Antonio D42 Open is an opportunity waiting to happen courtesy of a pair of sleeping quarters and a head. With more than sufficient storage space, spending extended weekends away is dictated only by your personal calendar.

A Word About Performance

Our test boat was equipped with triple Mercury V10 400-hp outboards. Our test day saw an air temperature of 75ºF, mild wind at 5 knots, and a relative humidity of 75%. Our dry weight was approximately 17,636 lbs/7,999 kg. Spooling up the triple Mercury outboards to 6400 rpm, we recorded a WOT speed of 48.9 mph. When we knocked her down to 4000 rpm, our De Antonio D42 Open purred along at 28.0 mph and a range of 224.8 statute miles with a 10% reserve of the boat’s total fuel capacity of 343 gallons. She planed-out between 3800 and 4000 rpm. Out of the hole shots saw us reach 40 mph in 16 seconds.

During all maneuvers, including tight S and circle turns, and straight runs, she proved effectively responsive to the helm, and always under control. Putting it all together, our time on the De Antonio D42 Open during our test runs was quite positive, especially with those triple 400-hp Mercury engines supplying the power.
