Mission
With a shallow draft of 25” (63.5 cm) with the engine down, and extended v-plane bottom to limit bow rise on accelerating, and with aggressive hull flare, the 206 Cayman S can get in close, or zip to the next fishing hot spot destination quickly and keep the occupants dry. She is intended to appeal to boaters who want a bay boat that is a few notches above low-priced boats in class but is still a good value.
Major Features
• Removable backrests and cushions for forward seating
• Console seating with livewell beneath and built-in rod holders
• Fold down jump seats aft
• Bench helm seat with adjustable bolster and self-draining cooler
• Electrical breaker switches instead of fuses
Design
The 15-degree deadrise on the hull is designed to produce a stable fishing platform, higher speeds, and fuel efficiency, while the extended v-plane hull creates buoyancy aft.

Seating
In fact, the “S” in Cayman S stands for seating. The seating has color-coordinated vinyl upholstery. The bow seating has removable backrests. The front console seat base has six built-in vertical rod holders on the sides. Hatch openings are fitted with tension hinges to prevent dropping the cover while keeping both hands free.
Center Console
The console itself is topped by a compass with open storage on either side. The port side storage has a charging port and both trays have drains. The console includes illuminated push buttons with integral breakers, Yamaha engine gauges, a stainless steering wheel on a tilt base with optional speed knob, throttle with engine tilt control, and stainless steel cup holders with built-in drain tubes.

Performance and Handling
We had mild conditions on test day, which are generally the inshore conditions the boat is designed for. With an optional engine upgrade to 150-hp Yamaha, our test boat topped out on WOT at 47.9 mph and 5900 rpm.
The boat was up on plane quickly in 2.5 seconds. It corners nicely and with her 50-gallon (189 L) fuel tank, you could run at a cruising speed of 25.1 mph and 3500 rpm for an endurance of 8.7 hours as she sips gas at 5.2 gph.
Optional Equipment to Consider
• Trolling motor
• Bimini or canvas T-top
• Filler cushions
• Engine upgrade
• Ski hooks
• Swim platforms
• Hull paint
• Washdown system
Price
$33,695 base, includes trailer and 115-hp Yamaha engine with aluminum prop, standard.
Observations
The Robalo 206 Cayman S is clearly an upgrade to the original 206 Cayman. It’s still a dedicated fishing boat, but now it has the dual ability to take friends and family for a comfortable day on the water as it has a USCG passenger capacity of eight people or 1,200 lbs. (8/544 kg). It comes standard with a single-axle trailer to visit those favorite spots. It is a well-built, entry-level bay boat at a reasonable price.
