Mission Statement
The TAHOE 2150 is designed to be a do-everything deckboat that takes advantage of the extra interior space that comes with powering her with an outboard motor. She’s rated for 11 passengers and the cockpit has a deep feel that should appeal to families.
Her fiberglass deep-V design cuts through lake chop and has three lifting strakes per side plus reverse chines to help the 2150 plane off quickly, which should make her a capable towing machine for watersports.
Base power is a 150-hp outboard and buyers can upgrade to as much as 225-hp. She comes standard with a refreshment center, cockpit table and a removable ski tow pylon. To customize the 2150, TAHOE offers optional packages for wakeboarding, entertaining with an electronics/stereo upgrade or fishing.
Power and Performance
Deckboat buyers are looking for passenger capacity and sporty performance in a single package and the 2150 has both. Base power is a 150-hp Mercury 4-stroke outboard and buyers can upgrade to a maximum of 225-hp. We tested the boat with a 225-hp Mercury Verado 4-stroke outboard turning an Enertia three-blade stainless-steel prop.
We hit a top speed
of 51.1 mph at 5900 rpm, burning 22.95 gph for a range of 92 miles. We saw our best cruising speed of 31.8 mph at 4000 rpm where we burned 8.85 gph, resulting in a range of 149 miles.
In acceleration tests
, the 2150 planed in 4.3 seconds. We ran out to 20 mph in 5.6 seconds and to 30 mph in 8.8 seconds. There was brief but noticeable bow rise that did briefly restrict driver visibility. We asked TAHOE about this and the manufacturer said that the combination of the fuel cell, which is positioned aft, being nearly full and the light load in the bow accentuated the condition. With a boat like the 2150, there would almost always be passengers on the forward lounges and that should help limit the bow rise.
In maneuvers
, the 2150 handled well, whipping smoothly through S turns and tracking steadily through circles. She comes around in a short radius, which means a driver can get back to a fallen skier or boarder quickly.
Features Inspection
The Bow
The 2150 comes standard with a large bow platform that has enough fore-to-aft depth for an adult to hang out. There’s a four-step beach boarding ladder beneath a hatch to starboard, and the anchor locker is centrally located with an integrated tray for hanging a Danforth-style model. The bow has three pull-up cleats—two outboard, and one in the center just ahead of the anchor locker for tying off the rode. This is as it should be, but rarely is on most deckboats, particularly price-point boats.
The anchor locker
was re-designed after customers complained that the compartment on previous models made it hard to install the trolling motor. The 2150 is pre-wired for the motor and the optional fishing package comes with a 75-lb. thrust trolling motor with a key fob control, a Lowrance fishfinder and other accessories that we’ll go into detail later.
The Cockpit.
Passengers can move into the cockpit by stepping over a low section of the deck in the bow. Another product of customer feedback, the bow cushion secures with snap-down straps and a forward bead and track fastener. The snaps to which those straps secure are in the outboard lockers beneath the hinged cushions. With the forward cushion out of the way, a hatch opens to reveal an insulated compartment that could be used as a cooler or livewell. The mount for a removable table is located on the base of this seat.
Bow Lounges.
Lounges on each side of the bow have space for an average-sized adult to sit facing forward with his or her legs stretched out. The cushions are hinged and they open to expose molded lockers in the base.
TAHOE angled the stainless grab rails to make them more comfortable. There are two speakers and two of the 11 stainless-steel cup holders in the boat’s bow. On the starboard side, the backrest on the front side of the helm console opens to provide access to the 2150’s fuse panel and extra storage.
The Wet Bar
Amidships to port, the refreshment center comes with a molded sink, a pull-out faucet and two drink holders. The sink cover is hinged and has a notch in it to hold up the faucet. The water fill is in the deck just outboard of the refreshment center.
Responding to customer concerns
about the difficulty of keeping the water tank clean on older models, TAHOE has now put the drain for the 5-gallon (18.9 L) tank in the bottom and the whole reservoir is removable for cleaning. There’s a storage net on the refreshment center locker hatch plus additional space in the compartment.
The Helm
Across from the refreshment center to starboard, the helm has a sliding, swiveling seat with a fold-up bolster. The dark gray finish reduces glare on the speedometer, tachometer and gauges for fuel, trim, water pressure and volts. In the center of the panel is a bungee cord to hold a cell phone in place and just ahead is a 12-volt power plug.
To improve the 2150’s appearance, the screws for the windscreen are hidden on the inside of the acrylic part instead of the usual fasteners on the outside. To the right side of the steering wheel is the accessory switch panel. As we’ve seen on other boats from the parent company Tracker Marine Group, the 2150 has a master power switch that shuts down the whole panel.
The Aft Seating Area
Across from the helm, the L-shaped rear seating wraps around from abaft the port refreshment center to the starboard passageway to the stern. An adult can sit aft facing comfortably. The two bottom cushions fold up and beneath the forward pad is the rack for the cockpit table post. The table straps in place in the aft locker along the port side.
A 36-quart (34 L) removable cooler is beneath the aft bench seat cushion that straps down with a rubber bungee-style fastener. The hatch for the cooler locks into a cleat on the underside of the cushion to make it easier to get to the contents. Pull out the cooler and there’s an inspection hatch that provides access to the fuel tank fittings and sending units.
The backrest for the bench seat also opens on custom hinges that hold it up to reveal the removable ski tow pylon that threads into a receptacle on the stern deck.
The Transom
A latching gate closes off the starboard passageway to the 2150’s stern. In the bulwark to starboard, TAHOE placed the remote for the stereo system and a shorepower plug, both of which are part of the electronics upgrade package. To port is an open storage locker while to starboard, a hatch in the walking surface opens to access the battery. Just aft is a four-step ladder. FYI—most deckboats and sportboat builders install only three steps.
Construction
TAHOE builds the 2150 with a hand-laid hull and deck that are chemically bonded and mechanically fastened. The full-length stringer system is foam filled and gelcoated. For the hullsides, buyers can choose from Black, Black Cherry, Storm Blue, Red or Blueberry.

Observations
With outboard power, rated seating capacity for 11 people and plenty of storage, the TAHOE 2150 should serve the needs of a typical boating family that goes boating on a river or lake. Depending on the power, she can run 50 mph and she has the power for towing watersports.
