Hello Boater
Paolo Vitelli -- Founder of Azimut-Benetti
Lion of Motoryacht Building Dies at 77
HE CHANGED THE INDUSTRY. Paolo Vitelli, who founded a business in 1969 that became Azimut-Benetti and the largest builder of motoyachts for the last 25 consecutive years, died on December 31, 2024. He started in business at 23 and changed the very nature of how virtually all motoryachts today are designed. He was a marketing genius who expanded the interest in yacht ownership far past anything that had ever been imagined, his story is one of planning, passion, innovation and sheer brilliance as he led an industry -- and it followed.
TOUGH AND THRILLING The Axopar 45 XC Cross Cabin, powered by triple 300-hp Mercury Verado V8 outboards, is not your typical recreational boat. She has the capability of being fully enclosed and yet is still a full walk around.
COOL LITTLE SS The Boston Whaler 160 Super Sport is easy and fun to do just about anything you can imagine. Still unsinkable, simple, and safe enough to let the kids take her out alone.
SLEEPS 4. The W11, Nimbus' vision of the weekend cruiser, is designed for individuals with active lifestyles who wish to extend their weekends, travel further, and invite the crew to come along. She has gyro stabilization, storage for gear and toys, and a generous amount of deck space.
FROM ANOTHER REALM. Join Lord Rothschild as he unveils his remarkable 73-meter explorer yacht, showcasing its global adventures, impressive 10,000-nautical-mile range, and her incredible journeys to remote corners of the world, from the icy wilderness of Patagonia to the vibrant shores of the Greek islands
MAGIC CARPET RIDE. Imagine gliding across the pristine waters of Lake Tahoe on Candela's P-12 Shuttle. This 30-passenger electric hydrofoil ferry cuts travel time in half, is whisper-quiet and uses 80% less energy. Glide smoothly at 25 knots, seamlessly connecting the north and south shores.
Join the Boomershines this week as they head north through NC, facing fog and searching for alligators on the Alligator River. They debate whether to stick to the ICW and stop at Coinjock or take a risky detour through the Dismal Swamp, a dream of Mark's for years.
